Disclaimer: Do not take too seriously; I am not necessarily saying the fics in question are bad ones. Sometimes they are horrible, but more often they are just mediocre, and sometimes quite okay, but they all had something in their summaries that I found goofy, misused, or amusing in some other way.

turns Aurora Sinistra's and Severus Snape's worlds not only upside-down, but inside out and 103.45 degrees backwards, as well.

It's in the Trio's second year when Hermione get's petrified. The rest you get to read and find out. Isn't quite sure what genre it is.
That's okay. A lot of grown-up novels still don't know what genre they want to be.

Severus tells how his life took a very different path because he had two best friends--one was Lily and the other a collie.
I was about to make a Lassie joke here, and went to Wikipedia to look up the last name of the Timmy character that was on the American TV show. But there I learned that the original story Lassie Come-Home was set in Yorkshire (although I personally subscribe to Severus being a Lancashire lad). So while this still strikes me as somewhat of an odd idea for a Potter fic, I'm amused enough by the whimsical nature of this trivia to leave this one alone.
