Better or worse American accent than in Gracepoint? I can't decide. Either way it gives me the heebie-jeebies. As some commenters remark, you can still hear Scottish peeking through, just like in Gracepoint. It's like the uncanny valley of accents. And also like with Gracepoint, I find myself whispering "ohgoddavidpleasestoptalking", which is not something one says under many circumstances!

It's the vowels. *sighs* And ... oh that's tough.

I still felt there was a definite improvement between this and Gracepoint...but honestly, it should be a crime to cover up a Scottish accent anyway. Whenever I get a Scottish customer, I have to really stop myself from swooning...my most favorite accent.

Is this a real show? It's a clever title! But the dialogue is straight out of a Friends episode. I loved Friends, please understand, but I don't look for shows that emulate the dialogue.

I never thought that his accent in Gracepoint was all that bad. Sure, his Scottish peeked through every so often and certainly there are plenty of other British actors who do an American accents so much better, but it wasn't distracting, and I know a number of people (all Americans) who hadn't known who he was before Gracepoint who had no idea he wasn't an American actor.

Rex, on the other hand.... Hoo boy. That was terrible. Just wow.

I will admit I'm really not the best at determining if an adopted accent is good or not. I have no idea, for example, if his RP and Estuary accents were any good, or his German accent in "Colditz".
