You need to know where you're going. If you have the whole picture already, you can just keep writing until you've described it all. But failing that, the more you write, the more you need to have some goal in mind, an idea of where things are leading and how it all came about to begin with. Otherwise, you are going to write the fanfic equivalent of Monster A-Go-Go.

To summarize: Do or do not; there is no "try". "Trying" to write doesn't work. It makes things worse. Things will start to be very obviously forced. Words come, or they don't. If you want that spark, you have to wait for it.

To summarize the summary: Beginnings are easy. Endings are hard. Middles are murder.

Look, I know Tobias Snape should have a rather rough (vs. Received Pronunciation) accent, but you've given him Hagrid's, which is really making me O.O every time ol' Toby opens his mouth. But then, you also wrote "soccer". There's nothing unusual about us Yankees not knowing Devon from Derbyshire if they bit us, but if you don't, plz don't try to transcribe an accent? Just let people talk normal-like. (For certain values of "normal". ;) )
