I wouldn't mind if it were just here and there, but it's so frequent that people point to this line this way. It grates on little language centers every time.

That said, I do think it's poetry. Snape is positively gushing sensual imagery here. "Stopper death" is a lot more poetic than "brew poison." It's just not foreshadowing poetry.
