Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] lilyevans_snape!

I ought really to have posted this this morning, but I was holding out hoping I could come up with some gift fic to post. I am made of fail, but I hope you had a happy birthday anyway!

P.S. I'd say the other occupant wishes you a happy birthday too, but he seems not to believe in the idea. ;)

What doesn't he believe in? Birthdays? I can assure him that they exist, as I just keep getting older by increments. That they can be happy? Well... they CAN be, depending on so many factors. I find that they seldom live up to one's expectations. The trick, I guess, is to have no expectations. That's always been difficult for me. Perhaps it's happiness itself that he doesn't believe in? *Sighs* Okay... he's got me on that one. Happiness is an ideal, and it's fleeting at best. One should enjoy it while it's around, but not expect it to stay. *Sighs again and grabs a fork* ...I'll just have some cake...

My husband has an elderly aunt that STILL makes a big deal out of her birthdays. I just don't get it. I've never really been one to celebrate them, and most people seem clueless as to my tastes, anyway. Cake is ALWAYS good, however...

I believe I wrote you a fic for your birthday this year, miss Esme, but whatever... ;-) ^_^. Thanks for the sweet well wishes and you are most certainly not made of fail. You are made of win all the way!!

Oh, and thank said other occupant for his lack of wishes as well. A lady of my increasing age does prefer it when the gentlemen don't make too much mention of the day. There was no mention of it yesterday by said occupant on my end either, but given events of the evening, that wasn't too surprising.
