It's funny how artists and writers will sometimes put in their Authors Note that the following work is "stupid". Well, if THEY think so, and they wrote it, that's enough for me. I'll pass on reading it.
I've said things like that on stuff which is cracky or silly.
So fanfics are rated for DEATH now?
Character death is apparently a problem for many people and they like to be warned for it rather than get to "OMG YOU KILLED ____ HOW COULD YOU". *shrug* Isn't something that bothers me, not in the sense that I would avoid reading a fic because of it, anyway. (Not like there's not plenty of death in this particular fandom's canon, too.)
Are people really so sensitive that a work must be rated for every conceivable thing that might possibly offend or frighten anyone?
You probably haven't been in recent (few months ago?) discussions on warning practices, but sorta, yeah. There's a camp of "I want to be warned for the following things which are triggering to me" and a camp of "No way, I'm not going to spoil my story for you" and etc.
