Hmm. If Mark Gatiss's character in the DW Christmas special is described in the official synopsis as "a World War One captain destined to die on the battlefield, but taken from the trenches", I think that means he can't be Gilbert Mackenzie Trench, as was the fun theory I saw around, can he?
