The Old Block by MST3KguruK10
Severus, Tobias, and Eileen; drama/family, T (PG-13), ~3700 words.
"Oh yes, they're arguing." The infamous memory scene from Chapter 26 of OotP, and a prequel-fic to Strange Bedfellows.

Tobias is "Toby" here, and it's his point of view. In a departure from the direction of most of fanon, Eileen is the alcoholic in this one. Don't get me wrong, Toby is no angel and the relationship between him and Eileen seems mutually abusive, but I liked the writing of his character a lot. He's rough, but you can tell he cares for his son.

“Take that bastard Townsend down at the mill,” Toby said. “I can’t just tell ‘im to go fuck ‘imself when he lays into me—he’s me foreman. I’d get sacked.” Severus was listening now, his mouth slightly open, the half-eaten remains of his second sandwich forgotten in front of him. Toby felt his lips begin to twist in a nasty smirk. “But I sure as hell can feed ‘is day’s reports to the carder an’ nearly get him sacked when ‘e deserves it.”

Oh, and bonus points for the author's username. :D

Rewriting the Song by angelofdreams13
Severus/Lily, romance/drama, T (PG-13), ~51000 words so far, WIP.
She believed he couldn't change. Discovering his true heart's desire made him want to try. Can Severus Snape reclaim what was lost before it's too late?

Yet another "what if Severus actually managed to change when Lily clearly wanted him to"? Yes, but one that didn't make me go "oh, yet another...". Features also the Marauders (natch), Narcissa (non-canon-ly, by the author's admission), Regulus, and a bunch of others. Has a slightly wry or silly edge to it that I like, even though it's not a humour fic, and a teenage-soap-opera feel I found really fun, despite elements of makeover!Severus.

“Oh, please, Severus, don’t think I’m stupid,” Narcissa snapped, flipping the list over to read the back. “I’ve known you’ve liked her since… well, since I’ve known you.”
Regulus looked incredulous. “So that’s why you’re trying to repair your image – you think you’ll be able to attract that Mudblood –”
“DON’T CALL HER THAT!” Severus roared, his wand out in a flash.
“It’s definitely her,” Narcissa muttered.

Conversations at Night by [livejournal.com profile] terri_testing
Neville, Draco, Aberforth, portrait!Snape; gen/pre-slash, PG, ~9100 words.
Some people seek closure; some seek the future. Some seek both.

[livejournal.com profile] terri_testing said "This is, essentially, an inept tribute to an absolutely great Draco/Neville series by A. J. Hall", to which I replied, "You must be using a different definition of 'inept' than the rest of us chickens. Everyone's voice is so wonderfully spot-on here." Neville is handling being a hero with as much unease as Harry or Severus; Draco is just feeling generally lost. Sarcastic friendship and some reconciliation ensues.

When Aberforth set down a fresh bottle, Neville commented, "Seems like everyone thinks with Voldemort gone, it would be bad manners to imagine we have any problems left."
Aberforth grunted, “I don’t think that, boy."
"I know," Neville answered. "I think that's partly why I come here."

Thinking of England by [livejournal.com profile] drachenmina
Severus/Harry, Stephen Hawking; crack, NC-17, ~1900 words.
Large Cauldron Collider ficlet fest entry, on the prompts "a slinky dress", "doing it doggy style", and "Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"

Man, this is just ridiculous. In Severus's own words, "I have been investigating the possibility of establishing an automated brewing process on an industrial scale, using expansion charms and temporal magic to control the timings, and, well, things [...] did not quite go according to plan.” So he needs the help of a certain physics genius to set things right -- a physics genius who turns out to have a bit of a kinky side.

“Potter! What the hell are you doing here?” Severus hissed. “I am quite certain you could not have understood more than one word in fifty!”
“Oh, hi, Professor!” Potter greeted him cheerfully. “Nah, one word in five hundred, I’d say. I mean, I was all right with Good morning, my name is Stephen Hawking, but he sort of lost me after that.”

Downward Spiral by [livejournal.com profile] envinyatar15
Severus/Lily, implied James/Lily and James/Sirius; dark/angst, NC-17, ~2200 words. Warnings: adultery.
She’s long since ceased trying to deny her inner urge to go to Snape when she really needs it. He's the only one who can help her.

My comment: "Oh, oh, oh my god. So gritty and despairing and hot and needy. This is the flip side of the lovely tender Severus/Lily I usually enjoy and it just tears me apart. Wonderful." 'Course, though, I am always a sucker for a fic where Severus is a uniquely satisfying sexual drug his partner just can't bear to give up.

She knows this is wrong, knows she shouldn’t be here, but the knowledge doesn’t change a thing, now does it? She’s still here, lying on this bed, thinking about how she shouldn’t, and still she’s spreading her legs, trying to urge him on with almost-silent pleas and pants and moans.
