Can someone explain to me what an "oekaki board" is? At first I thought it was a medium (well, substrate, if you will), like scratchboard, but it seems that "board" here means a web board, and I'm a little lost as to how this translates into an artistic style or method.

I've always known it as a bulletin board system (or something) where folks show off their touchscreen (or otherwise mouse) skillz with each other.

I am probably wrong. :P

Some of the stuff I've seen looks awfully nice to be mouse-drawn, but I suppose some folks are awfully talented that way.

They might be drawing with a graphic tablet and stylus or similar, rather than a mouse. (My icon is drawn that way - not by me, I hasten to add!)

It's a paint-chat, basically, which usually allows you to save the pictures you draw. I think the programming for what we call oekaki was developed in Japan (hence the name and the medium's popularity with anime fans).
