If I wanted to buy a black lace dickie/dickey (such as this or this, although that's rather larger than I normally think of a dickie being!) by walking into a physical store rather than ordering from the internet, what sort of store should I be looking in?

I'm afraid I can only offer "department stores". They come in and out of fashion. Say: Macy's, Sears, or JC Penny's.

Hrm. I don't recall seeing such a thing the last time I was at all three of those (investigating "shapewear" which I am going to need to wear with this outfit, too). I was trying to avoid paying shipping with a good tip on where I'd be sure to find such, but I don't think at this point I can wait till this weekend, get no joy, and then belatedly try to order something (I need to have it in hand by the 26th). Ah well.
