But since my main business in fandom was as a writer, this drabble titled "Softer" (September 23, 2007) was my immediate response, even though this partial filk was actually earlier (August 6). "Softer" was the first one where I purposely set out to create a fanwork.

Do I like them? The drabble, eh, I'm sort of so-so. It's okay, but a little purple and I probably wouldn't write it the same way today (assuming I could write). The icon, I wouldn't call it cringe, but I've gone off Alan Rickman so I definitely wouldn't use that picture today; I might put the same text on a different image.

You know I'm not a film!Snape fan but that's a really well put together icon, you seem to be very good at that. Me? I can't make icons worth shit.

Heh... the post it was in was like "omg crossfading, y u so hard" and I think I could probably have done it much faster now, since that was hand-done, individually grading the layers in transparency and blah blah. Very much a labor of love, especially of new love, which was really where I was at the time. It was in that space where tons and tons of effort by any reasonable measure feels like no "work" at all because of the joy, yanno?
...Oh, now I gave myself a sad.
