OotP: Okay, but felt extremely rushed, kind of like reading DH in fact. (I suppose that means that DH will survive an accurate transition to screen better than some of the others, not that that's saying something very positive.)
Luna: Well cast, but annoyed the crap out of me mostly. I know she's supposed to be all spacey, but she came across to me as a walking blonde joke.
Umbridge: CHRIST ON A CRACKER I WANT TO SMACK THAT WOMAN LIKE SNAPE SMACKED RON (Yes, I know this is how I am supposed to feel. She was hateful in the best way.)
Snape: Potions-Master-Not-Appearing-In-This-Film. Something about a quantity of cowbell comes to mind. I already knew the Worst Memory scene had been shortened into a brief Legilimency bit, but I had no idea it was going to be that brief. I hope it was actually filmed as for a full Pensieve sequence and just got cut, so that maybe we'll see that in deleted scenes on the DVD.
Tonks: Metamorphmagus-Not-Appearing-In-This-Film. (Also, I thought she was supposed to have short hair?) Zero characterization, for obvious running-time-related reasons, but still disappointing.
Baby thestral: OMG CUTE
Cho and Harry kissing: Dear gods, I can't look. Is it over yet? (I always get uncomfortable at scenes like this, I dunno why.) I'd like some of that self-growing mistletoe though.
Dumbledore: Is kind of growing on me, but I still prefer the other actor.
Weasley escape: Having only the fireworks part and not the rest kind of takes some of the oomph out of it, but that brief shot of Flitwick pumping his fist was great.
I think I would have been extremely confused had I not read the book several times. I wonder if they think there's anyone still following who hasn't, or what. (My mother would be one such, actually, and she was already confused in GoF.)
