Um. Documentary?

Oh okay there.

Didn't realize Moviefone was aware of anything other than current and upcoming stuff. The first one seems to be this documentary about cave exploration from 2010.

I'm cataloging Kiki's Delivery Service here at work, and its IMDB page claims it's referenced in the first two Harry Potter films, but does not elaborate on the details of what the references supposedly are. I'm skeptical that it's actually the case. Anyone have any idea what they might be talking about?

http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/2012/3/3/first-look-at-harry-potter-wizards-collection-dvd-boxed-set-on-amazon

I'm curious about the extended cuts of the first two films and "5 hours of never before seen special features", but not $500 (full list) or even $349 (Amazon, but see also the rather sobering article in the latest Mother Jones, I Was a Warehouse Wage Slave and also The Real Price of Amazon's Free Shipping from last September) worth of curious, especially given that I already have a whole set of the "special edition"-type DVDs as well as the "Ultimate Edition" of the first six.

A series of on-set interviews with cast and crew have been released; see http://dhmoviepics.livejournal.com/112160.html for a full list. Alan Rickman's may be interesting to Snapefen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJqejvcpJQw Interesting quotes and choices of words about Snape, such as "[playing the role is] not so much what you choose to do as not disobeying it", "concentrated", "solitary existence", something about him generally being soft-spoken, and "he's only got one set of clothes, clearly, which last quite well" (*chuckles*).

OMG SNAAAPE. Much as I have aversions to Rickman!Snape the man can sometimes still take my breath away.

From the artist's comment on a pic on dA:

I was totally disgusted with the film's rendition of 6th year Snape--or what looked like an emo kid picked straight out of MySpace. I think Sev would have been moderately attractive... but still--you know--Snapish. So I made an effort to make him...well... kissable.

(leaving aside 1. the strict canon interpretation that what you suggest is unlikely, 2. the obvious correction that that was fifth year, albeit he was nearly sixteen and a half, and 3. my peeve about using "emo" as an insult)

Whaaaaaaa you so cray-cray! (That's right, English fails me.) That "emo kid picked straight out of MySpace" is gorgeous, and visually beats what we're given for his adult self IMNSHO. If you think this isn't "kissable" then it's time to call in Dr. House because I just don't know what's wrong with your brainmeats:

I dunno about youse guys, but I can hardly look at that shot without wanting to push him up against the wall and kiss him half insensible.

:P

(Do not take too seriously. Just having a fangirl moment.)

Dumbledore's version of the orphanage visit isn't the only one. Set pre-canon. Prompt: "I just don't think there are any rules to color. You have a small space with no windows? Put lamps in there, make it dramatic, paint the ceiling black. Do something with it. If it's dark, accentuate the darkness." David Bromstad

My sole useless comment on this was "awesome!" It's basically the scene we see in "The Secret Riddle", from little Tom's point of view. The sense of the cold, confrontational emotions in his proto-sociopath mind is really good.

Harry really is terrible at giving speeches.

Comic format. I especially liked the way their young-adult faces were drawn on the 2nd page and Draco's off-the-cuff suggestion (and Harry's response) on the 8th page. Oh, and Harry's toes on the 6th page! Guh! And Harry all toffed up on the 9th page. Okay, apparently I had more to say about this than I thought... especially given that H/D isn't usually something I seek out (although I have nothing against it).

If you were bemused by Alan Rickman's wig in DH Part 1, this art is for you. Some other funny things on this page too (I liked Albus Severus's Sorting) but I get the feeling some of them are inside jokes.

(haha, not a good choice there on the still frame for the embed, Youtube.)

It's kind of funny how well these three people are imitating Dan, Rupert, and Emma doing Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Like, their delivery and body language and stuff are recognizable as those actors playing those parts. Kind of meta. *aigidda-aigidda-aigidda*

GYAH! The part-transformations you see on the first camera pass as the Polyjuice starts to take effect are just damn creepy looking.

OMG THIS IS LIKE OUT IN TWO WEEKS, WHAT?

"Digital copy" codes for PoA and GoF were included with the "Ultimate Edition" DVD sets I just got. Not something I'm going to use. You like? You say.

You know, it's kind of funny how I can bitch and moan about WB and the hash they make of the story and the visual design (although sometimes they get it really right, and sometimes even if strictly non-canon, it's so cool that I don't care - warning: TVTropes link), and yet, somehow they still know how to emotionally manipulate me and make me excited and even eager to go shell out $10 to see this. Twice, even (DH Part 2). Part of me resents that, and part of me is like "Dude, it's just a show, I should really just relax. Count your blessings: don't you complain of anhedonia? If this affects you like that and makes you get that squirmy fuzzy happy fangirly feeling in your stomach, be glad, shut up and enjoy it."

There's a bunch of new TV spots out for DH now (see http://community.livejournal.com/dhmoviepics/75545.html). I like these three.

BRB, loling forever at George at the end here: Read more... )

Good glimpse of the Seven Potters in this one; hearing Fleur's voice from DanRad's mouth is very weird (and not how Polyjuice works in canon, nor logical; consistent with how they did it in the CoS film, but also requires us to suppose that Barty Jr was merely doing a very good job of imitating Moody's voice all year!): Read more... )

You can see a bit of Snape in this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wodrP0Dj79E (and it would seem that those who supposed the weird still with arm upraised was at the gates of Malfoy Manor are correct), but even though it's just half a second or something (ca. 0:09), I think I prefer this one: Read more... )

As much as I complain about Rickman!Snape in stills and posters these days, I can't deny that if you let him speak and move (and glare, and billow), he still steals a scene in about ... negative three seconds flat.

There's a new TV spot for DH: http://community.livejournal.com/dhmoviepics/75203.html (rather than embedding it myself. *is lazy*) The scene in Malfoy Manor with Snape's awful hair is considerably improved by being able to hear him speak. No matter how much I might complain about Alan Rickman visually, I still love his vocal delivery. And it seems that the weird-looking still with him with his arm raised and no visible wand really is him doing something with his wand - I was right that he was simply caught in the middle of an action (a kind of slicing upward arc) and it made it look weird.
