My oeuvre isn't anywhere near large enough to do this seriously (well, serious-humorously), but meh.
10 signs you might be reading a fic by Esmestrella:
1. It's got Severus in it.
2. The narrative voice refers to him as "Severus", not "Snape".
3. Severus is a cranky teenager.
4. Or all angsty and emo.
5. Or the whole tableau approaches noir.
6. Or any combination of the above.
7. (Regulus/Sirius/Lily) is anywhere from distantly admiring to actively lusting after Severus.
8. Something nice is happening to/for Severus, even if he doesn't quite notice it.
9. There are puns, double entendres, sarcasm, and/or humour so dry it could be used as a desiccant.
10. You have this vague, nagging little feeling the author might be bitter about how things come out for Severus in canon. It's only vague, though. Nagging. Little.
