"Welcome to the (adapted) 2008 edition of getting to know your friends." *yawn* You know the drill.
I can never pick single favourites on "favourite xxx?" questions, so I'm going to be a Cheating McCheatyperson and give a list for some.
1. What is your occupation?
Senior Library Technician. Or rather, Library Technician, Senior. The "Senior" distinction is functionally meaningless as there are not plain Library Technicians for me to supervise, only students. It's a legacy title from a time when there were various grades of Library Technician.
2. What color are your socks right now?
Black.
3. What are you listening to right now?
Pages being turned and clicking noises of one of my students replacing Fall syllabi with Winter ones in a binder.
4. What was the last thing that you ate?
Half an Una Mas bean and rice burrito with hot salsa.
5. Can you drive a stick shift?
Yes. Have done for over 12 years. I have moments of disorientation when I drive an automatic and occasionally do things like push the nonexistent clutch or have to stop myself from shifting gears with the stick.
6. If you were a crayon, what color would you be?
Let's go with violet.
7. Last person you spoke to on the phone?
Probably... the dean of the library? Some question about setting opened/closed times in the system so things would get proper due date timestamps.
8. Do you like the person who sent this to you?
blpaintchart? I don't know her very well, but I like her as far as I know her.
9. How old are you today?
29.39726 years. (Yes, really. I counted days and divided.)
10. Favorite drink?
Lime-flavoured carbonated water, red/dark beer, Irish whiskey, mango lassi, Thai iced coffee, tea of all colours.
11. What is your favorite sport to watch?
I don't.
12. Have you ever dyed your hair?
Yes. There's some watercolour-wash-like remnants of a reddish job from last... August? still present. I spent several years with it dyed a purple so dark it looked almost black indoors, and have also tried actual black (not so good, not cool black anyway) and a fire-engine red (too much for me).
13. Pets?
I don't generally mind other people's, but I've grown out of wanting them myself. Too much work.
14. Favorite food?
Hot and sour soup, naan, hummus, beef stew, sushi, lo mein, fancy olives, vanilla-bean ice cream... I eat a lot of different stuff.
15. Last movie you watched?
In the theater, Order of the Phoenix. On DVD, Prisoner of Azkaban, but I was looking for some screencaps.
16. Favorite Day of the year?
Last day of Summer quarter, because it means we're closed for a whole seven weeks and I don't have to deal with patrons all that time.
17. What do you do to vent anger?
I'm a bottler.
18. What was your favorite toy as a child?
Beats me. The C64? ;)
19. What is your favorite season?
Autumn, except for the part where it's all dry and brown. One of the things I like about winter in California is that that's when it starts raining and everything turns green again.
20. Hugs or kisses?
"Or"? Are we talking as a casual greeting (hugs), or what?
21. Cherry or Blueberry?
False dichotomy.
22. Do you want your friends to email you?
For what purpose? I'm not very good with keeping up a conversation, so while I don't mind hearing from people now and again, I don't really want lots of emails with expectations of responses. It's the best way to get a hold of me for a particular purpose, though.
23. Who is most likely to respond?
24. Who is least likely to respond?
How the heck should I know?
26. When was the last time you cried?
The last time I had tears in my eyes was last night (someone's heart-tugging fanfic). The last time I actually cried so that tears were falling... I don't remember. Probably within the past six months, though.
27. What is on the floor of your closet?
Shoes, boots, some "grubby tasks" jeans, wrapping paper, a few spare clothes hangers, a bodhran.
28. Who is the friend you have had the longest that you are sending this to?
On this flist? By what definition?
shalora by one,
enotsola by another.
29. Who is the friend you have had the shortest that you are sending this to?
Oo er. I dunno. My friends history would seem to say
ebonyserpent is the most recent add, but somehow that doesn't sound right...
30. Favorite smells?
Bread rising (not so much baking, actually), vanilla, roasting meat, sandalwood, chocolate, vetivert, amber, oakmoss, violet,
enotsola's leather coat (which does not smell like "leather" per se, but has its own peculiar sweet scent), moss, damp earth, forests, gardenia, peppermint, spearmint, wintergreen, drying hay, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, woodsy-spicy things in general.
31. Who inspires you?
Huh?
32. What are you afraid of?
Rejection; failure; purposeful non-inclusion in a group ("uninvited" as opposed to simply being missed out); those times where I post something or otherwise show off a shiny and people ignore it completely as apparently utterly uninteresting; that it may be impossible to be an attractive female in this society without a certain bra size; expectations of certain actions or reactions from me, particularly in social settings; walking alone on a street at night...
33. Plain, cheese or spicy hamburgers?
These do not strike me as natural divisions in the taxonomy of the hamburger (rather than, say, by weight). A hamburger with cheese is a cheeseburger, which is a different thing. A "spicy hamburger" is not something I've encountered as its own entity. Probably spicy, though; I like spicy foods in general.
34. Favorite car?
35. Favorite cat breed?
Um, yeah. Okay, whatever.
36. Number of keys on your key ring?
Basic keys, three (car, front door, garage door, plus the keyless entry doohickey), plus a keychain of a pewter bird claw clutching a rainbow crystal sphere (one of the oldest possessions I still have; I bought it at my first ren faire over 18 years ago). Work keys, I have two key rings, one for the keys I use frequently (six keys plus an electronic fob thing) and one for the ones I don't (five more keys). Also, there are a few low-security keys I just keep in a drawer at work because I can't be arsed to carry them.
My purse weight increases by a noticeable amount when I carry all these jingly pieces of brass and nickel in it.
37. How many years at your current job?
Six and a half, but that doesn't count eight months in 2006 that I wasn't working here (I luckily came back to the same job after failing to move to Canada permanently).
38. Favorite day of the week?
Friday, I think.
39. How many states have you lived in?
One, and also one Canadian province.
40. Do you think you're funny?
Do you think you're smart?
Funny ha ha or funny peculiar?
...both? I know I'm peculiar. I like to think I'm ha ha, but I don't know how well I succeed. Oftentimes things that I think are a scream get no reaction from the studio audience.

I honestly probably would keep my same faithful 2005 Toyota Corolla, Hasufel. Have him painted metallic purple or green, maybe, or get that fancy "night sky" fantasy paint job. Some part of me wants a hybrid, but I don't really like the way the Priuses look, and I don't feel positive about the Honda or Nissan hybrids, which look more like normal cars. I have no interest in driving fast, I would not enjoy a car that used a lot of fuel, and while some cars look shiny, I just don't feel a desire to own them myself. *shrug*
