“Did you ever notice Regulus being friends with Snape?”

Lupin was seized with a coughing fit and could not answer for several minutes. “Terribly dusty up here, isn’t it?” he finally managed.

In Ch 15:

“Snape oversees most of the classes,” said Ginny one night. “He doesn’t think much of Carrow, the professor [of Dark Arts]. Snape took over for an entire week to teach us non-verbal spells; I don’t think he trusted Carrow to do it properly. Snape’s mistake,” Ginny laughed.

“Why?” Harry asked.

“Snape taught us too well. Now when we’re supposed to be using Dark curses on each other, we just say the incantation but perform a different spell nonverbally. It’s driving Carrow mad, he thinks we’re all a bunch of morons.”

There was something odd about that situation; Harry could not put his finger on it.

Ah, Harry, bless your Snape-hating heart; I sure can. ;) (Seriously, reading that is making me grin like a maniac right now.)

Hey, at least this writer actually had Harry thinking about it...

I love the Regulus thing! I think I would love this writer forever if he? she? made Snape good for the hell of it instead of the damn, "pining for Lily" crap. Hell, he can even like Lily, as long as that's not the only reason he turned good...

That's assuming that she IS making Snape good., but this snippet suggests she is, so...

I've been thinking about reading this.. Maye I'll wait till she's finished. Tough, do you know how long that will be?

No idea. You could try getting a hold of torino10154. See the thread on my IJ - http://esmestrella.insanejournal.com/25648.html. I'm finding it satisfying even as WIP, though. Ch. 17 is the last one up on that site so far but torino10154 says she's read 29 chapters. She's probably aiming for approximately the same number as in the book, but I don't know.

Wow, is this a complete redo of the book? Sounds interesting. I might have to try this when it's done. I rarely read WIPs, because I don't like to take the chance that they won't be finished.

(Also, I'm so sorry I haven't got your story back to you yet. I suck. I've been ridiculously busy. I want to go to sleep forever! I'll get it to you by the weekend absolute latest. Sorry!)

Wow, is this a complete redo of the book?

Basically, although each individual chapter is shorter. But then,Deathly Hallows could have stood some, ah, narrative liposuction as it was. ;)

That's okay. I won't likely have the chance to work on it next week anyway, since I am going to see my fiance in Canada and we are going to Montreal to get him his immigration visa.

:DDDD Awww, I almost have to read that now. Although the format seems sort of depressing, too. Rubbing it in that Severus/Regulus could have been but isn't canon.

In an earlier chapter there's a photo of Severus and Regulus together on holidays, that they find in Regulus's room with a friendly (well, terse and smirking, you know Severus) letter and a bunch of potions recipe corrections, and Ron remarks, "That's never Snape. I didn't know he even knew how to smile." or something like that.
