I signed up for snapedom Summer Fest. *bites nails* I've never signed up for any exchange or fest before because I am terrified of writing to spec and on a deadline.

But I thought "For this, maybe I can do it. Come on. It's all about Snape. You can write Snape, right? Honestly what else do you do anyway? And you even get to say you want to be restricted to the ships and genres you write anyway. You can do that, right? You have like three entire months to write and post. A picture prompt is easier than a text prompt, isn't it? Isn't it??"

I'm not sure if it being non-anon will help or not. I don't want to be made of fail.

I never sign up for art fests because about 98 out of every 100 ideas I come up with don't turn out the way I had hoped. So I can understand your fear. But you seem to do very well writing Snape and I'm sure you'll do a great job. And if not, meh, not the end of the world. Try to enjoy the experience and just have fun. Good luck!

I would really like to sign up for the fest because I would love an illustration for the Snape parts of my fic. I don't even have an insanejournal account though, or belong to Snapedom, so I suppose I will need to do that first.

I knew you could use that to comment on insanejournal blogs, but I didn't want to just show up in their community when I've never posted there before. I guess I should ask there, though. Sorry!

BTW, I really enjoy the fic summaries you find - hilarious! You must have to sift through a lot of drivel to find that stuff.

I've been thinking about signing up for it, because I like to write fic, and not every fic for me is an epic effort (unlike the ones I'm working on now...), and I would LOVE to have someone illustrate scenes from Severus Evans or maybe the birthday party Duluth fic. My biggest reservation, and this may sound weird, is the whole "wall of shame" concept. I have no intention of not following through if I sign up (barring unforeseen and drastic circumstances) but the idea of "shaming" people really puts me off. Is this standard procedure in these kinds of events?

Anyway, YES, of course you can do it! ;-)

I'm not sure how serious [livejournal.com profile] sylvanawood was being about that. But then again, if you sign up for a fest and then flake out without letting anyone know you won't be able to complete it, then maybe you do deserve a little shame, at least, because you've left someone in the lurch.

I knew it was you. ;-) No worries. And I agree with the policy of not allowing future participation. I just don't believe in shaming, or public displays of humiliation, on ethical and psychological grounds. (Also, there might be someone like [livejournal.com profile] bluestocking79 who ends up with hideous pneumonia and drops off the face of the earth while in the hospital--but I'd guess such a person would be "restored" to good standing once they were communicado again.) Hopefully the "wall of shame" was just tongue in cheek.
