arcanetrivia: a light purple swirl on a darker purple background (annoyed (slap a bitch))
I fondled the anniversary edition of Sorcerer's Stone today at Kepler's Books. I do like the new cover art (Harry looking in the Mirror) much better than the old, and the inclusion of a larger version than I've yet seen of JKR's "how I always saw Snape" sketch as the frontispiece (?) was cool (I still think that one is fun; as she says, he has a resemblance to Dracula, and it has the feel of a mood caricature to me: "Snape before coffee", or something), but those two changes alone are not worth $30.00. Pfeh.

"Snape before coffee" *snerk*. I'll have to see that. Oh wait.... ;-)

Snape before coffee WITH "bed head" is even more adorable! *giggles*

You've just given me an idea for my next picture. Well...after the one I'm doing tonight after a suggestion from LittleBeans.

You guys all give me such great ideas!

Do you know if that Snape caricature is available somewhere on the internet? I'm extremely curious O.O

He does look like Dracula here. Still, I wouldn't be afraid of him or loathe him. I don't know, he looks cute to me heh. My views on people are SO different from JKR's, I mean I love the Snape she described in the books and I love this pic :)

Thank you!

Well, I don't think this could leave us in any doubt of the John Nettleship (Jo's old Chem teacher on whom it is said she based Snape) parallels now. There is a marked similarity, to be sure. Though, as you say, it does appear to be more of a caricature than a serious portrait.

That anon. post - yeah that was me

That anon post just submitted in reply to this. Yeah, that was me, awake at 6:30 am on a Sunday and still have asleep. Sigh... Sorry about that.

Still HALF asleep, I mean. I also corrected this spelling error without signing in, so then it went through as anon. too. I just give up. I think I should go back to bed. Sigh....

Yes, insomnia kept me up at this god forsaken hour. I did actually sleep off and on, but not well. That seems to be happening alot.

I still have my theories about Jo and Snape, but you are right that the illustration is appropriate for a children's novel (because really books 1 and 2 were exactly that).

$30!!!

That goes way beyond chutzpah, IMO!

Rowling's 15 minutes are up!
