I must say that I sometimes cheat a bit with the morning pages and only get one page done. Usually this occurs when I am feeling happy and have nothing to vent about. In fact, I use it basically as a place to vent. And it DOES help. Normally, all my worries and grudges play on an endless loop in my mind to where I can't think of anything else. Somehow, once I get it all down on paper, I find that I don't have to obsess over it anymore and can think of other things. Also, I have noticed that sometimes when I write of a particular problem I have, something occurs during the course of the day to help solve it. It's kind of weird, but in a good way.
She also mentions the "Artist's Date", which is a once a week excursion, alone, and with no errands involved, just to do something that you consider fun. I prefer to think of them as "a date with the Muse", but it's the same thing, and I find it so incredibly energizing! Yesterday I went to an art exhibit that I wanted to see, and got an idea for my next series there. It's kind of like writing the morning pages is cleaning out the refuse and making room for the new stuff you get on the Artists Date.
Anyway, if you want the extra copy of the book that I have, I would be glad to send it to you. Just PM me your address.
