I'm thoroughly enjoying bitterfig's Severus/Regulus 7spells series right now. Having only taken one stab at this myself, which is still in progress*, I'm still in a non-confident space where seeing that other people apparently have similar conception and "touch" about these two (or three, Sirius seems to always worm his way in) makes me feel reassured, not that I am boringly unoriginal in my ideas. Contains angst and comfort and dark bits and teh sex and great stuff like that.
Also:
"If your activities with the Death Eaters are brought to light, Severus, you’ll be sentenced to the Dementor’s kiss," Dumbledore had told him. "They'll take your soul."
"What soul?" Snape asked.
whereas I wrote:
Afterwards, I wondered silently why I had bothered to ask Albus how he weighed my soul against Draco's. His words were fair and persuasive, but underneath them I heard his true thought:
What soul, Severus?
eeeeee!
sorry, just pleased to find this little echo -- albeit they are at opposite ends of Severus' adult relationship with Dumbledore!

* I think I may try to work on it this weekend. After the initial burst I keep looking at it and going "nothing I could possibly add will sound as good. It has to be done all at once or I lose the momentum and wind up trying to imitate myself, and the imitation is always easily tellable from the first, genuine article." Maybe I should sit down with some wine (or that Irish single malt that is softly and musically chanting my name) and try to write with my heart (...or other parts**) instead of my head.
