Well, I think I'm going to try the importing thing and import entries from LJ (obviously that misses out the IJ comments, but you can't have everything). As I understand it, this will create duplicate posts of stuff since May that already existed, so there will be some cleanup involved. *crosses fingers*

Yeah, it was smooth, and despite the warning on the page that it could take a day, it took like ten minutes. (But then I have only a little over a year and a half's worth of entries; the story might be different if I'd tried to import starlightforest which is from 2002.)

I imported both my LJ and IJ and had to privatise most double entries (I left a few public if I thought there was interesting discussion or such on both), which was time consuming let me tell you, but this way I have a back up of the IJ comments too. (At the time the comment rot issue at IJ hadn't been resolved yet and although it hadn't affected my journal, backing it up made me feel safer.)
