1. You have a "big" birthday coming up. Is there anything you really want to do before you turn 30? Tell me about it.
Nope. I've never been a life goals/ambitions type of person. There are things I would like to do, but it doesn't seem important to get them done in the next seven months. 30 is going to creep up really fast (I'm surprised January is half-shot already) and I'm probably barely going to notice it. My co-workers are probably going to notice it more, and I only pray they don't decide to do some stupid surprise party. I hate those. (My birthday being at a time of the year half the staff are already absent because they are 11-month faculty, and not 12-month classifieds, helps out there.) I'm not sure if I'm going to care very much about 40 or 50 when they get here, either.
2. Why Snape? And canon!Snape or fanon!Snape?
He is just made of awesome. Great witty lines. Good fashion sense ;) . Brilliant and full of presence in a book where a lot of people are not. Complex storyline. Backstory that gets me right there. An agent within the story for voicing my frustrations with its protagonist. ;)
I like them both but most of the time what I am thinking of is probably a fanon!Snape. What I see in my head is not Alan Rickman (nor is it Alec Hopkins, for that matter), yet I know I have managed to romanticize and even eroticize him to an extent that isn't really supported by the text (except in the sense that everyone has their preferences and kinks, and some of his details push certain buttons for me). There's so much material to work with when it comes to Severus, and so many people do such a great job of it.
3. What would you see if you looked into the Mirror of Erised?
Hrm. Probably me in a body that I actually thought was attractive. (Which is not the changes most people think of when I say something like that -- I have no desire to look like, oh, Angelina Jolie.)
4. What would be your boggart?
I think I might be a bit like Molly here, and that it would probably be a dead
enotsola.
5. So what's in Canada that keeps/kept you going back?
Oh, sorry -- this is a bit of a "duh" to me, but I guess it's not very clear to people who have only seen a few months of posts online.
enotsola is Canadian (born in Nova Scotia, living in Ontario) and we've been engaged since 2001. I applied in 2003 to immigrate to Canada as a permanent resident, but when the visa was finally approved in 2006 and I moved, I wasn't able to find any full-time work and after five months we decided I should stop spending savings, I would move back to California, and we would do immigration the other way around. I applied last April to sponsor him, and his interview for that visa is in three weeks.
