[livejournal.com profile] drachenmina, I don't know if maybe you figured this out, but the recalcitrant Snack fic I was referring to in this post was supposed to be yours for your birthday. There's just no way it's going to be done in time. I've only been managing about half as fast as I would have needed to do, and to top it off I lost a chunk of time to a fire alarm incident at work tonight. Here's a sampler, though, as a kind of apology:

Severus was very annoyed to run into Black and Lupin on his way back from detention that night.
He supposed Lupin was out on his rounds, but that didn't mean Black had any business wandering about with him.

Lupin merely gave him a colourless smile and seemed content to pass by without harassing him. Black, on the other hand, did not.

"Wandering around at night again, eh Snivellus?"

"Detention, not that it's any of your business," Severus snapped. "I could point out that you seem to be doing the same. Some prefect you are, Lupin."

Lupin scowled, but said nothing.

Black, however, laughed and ruffled Lupin's sandy brown hair affectionately. "I think he's doing fine. There's bigger fish to fry than me, isn't that right, Moony?"

"Sirius!" Lupin's scowl deepened and he waved Black's hands away. "Come on, let's go. Snape here isn't one of those fish anyway. He's allowed to go back to his dormitory after a detention."

"Is that right? He seems fishy enough to me!" Black grinned like he thought he had just made a particularly witty joke.

"Lovely, Black. Really, simply stunning," said Severus dryly.

Black batted his eyelashes. "Why, Snape, I didn't know you cared."
