This is a Snack ficlet I wrote as an art prompt for dahtwitchi. The resulting art went through a couple of conceptual leaps and doesn't depict this scene at all; see it here. (rated G/WS) Snape's on a horse!

Title: A Binding Agreement
Pairing: Severus/Sirius
Rating: PG

Warnings/Contains: Very mild bondage.
A/N: This can follow on Flogging It but begins in media res (no transition from that to this).

...To Sirius's surprise, Severus drew a length of thick black cord out of the pouch and proffered it to him. Sirius just stood there blinking for a few seconds.

"Come on, Black, are you and your camera doing this or not?" Severus said, shaking the cord at him. If Sirius wasn't mistaken, there was a slight note of nerves in Severus's voice, but he didn't point it out.

Sirius took the cord from Severus and ran it through his hands. It felt soft, like well-worn cotton or even raw silk. Glancing up, he saw Severus holding his arms out to him, crossed at the wrist. His dark eyes were glaring, but his thin mouth was smirking - so maybe it wasn't a glare so much as just that fiery gaze Sirius had so recently become intimately familiar with.

Slowly, he began winding the cord about Severus's slender wrists. He was no expert in the art of knot-tying, but the contrast of the black on Severus's pale skin would make a few simple coils and a square knot quite attractive enough, Sirius thought.

He stood close in front of Severus as he did this, their bodies inches apart, their faces beside one another rather than looking each other in the eyes. With the ear that was near Severus's nose, he could hear the man's breathing quicken as he tightened the knot. A shiver went up Sirius's spine, and he felt his body instinctually tense and arch towards Severus. He restrained himself, keeping their hands the only point of contact between them, but the heat and the magnetism between them was palpable. He could feel Severus's hands trembling...

She said she would have liked to have a little dialogue or story for this picture, but couldn't think of one, and could anyone write one? So I did this little splat of Severus/Hermione. (I know, I know: Four horsemen sighted on horizon; film at 11.) I have no idea what I am doing here so forgive me if I get the character dynamic all wrong.

Severus shivered, pulled his scarf up a little higher around his throat, and tried to sink his jaw and cheeks down into it like a turtle. His voice a little muffled by the green and grey striped wool, he said, "Granger, if you'd just—"

"—Hermione," she admonished him without looking up, scraping her fingers through the snow to make the lines of her snow-horse's mane.

"Hermione," he continued gruffly, "as I've told you twice already, if you insist on making snow sculpture in the dead of winter you surely have faster and better ways of doing so." He tapped the tip of his wand impatiently against his palm. "Or doth the history of your Charms marks deceive me?" He ardently wished once again that he'd put on a hat and gloves before venturing out in the twilit snow to collect the foolish young witch.

"Oh, Severus," she sighed, standing and brushing the snow from her knees, then turning to face him. "One thing I've learned is that there are just some things that are better to do with your own hands." For a moment she remembered hearing about Harry digging Dobby's grave in the Muggle way and blinked away the tears that sprang to her eyes. Then, smiling, she took one of his hands in hers. Caressing his fingers suggestively, she stretched up to whisper in his ear, "Some things. As I'm sure you know..."

Severus shivered again, but not from the cold. "Some things," he agreed in a low, hot voice, and led her inside.

OK, Mimi, take two on this. I felt pretty lame about the first attempt, especially since I had asked for a prompt for a birthday present, for f's sake. The comic-book idea was fun (and is recycled here), but the rest of it, frankly, flopped. Although I don't say that I wouldn't love to see drawings of Severus having something to do with spun sugar or recycling. ;)

This, on the other hand, kind of got away from me in terms of length, but you can't have everything. So without further ado, Five things that Severus Snape does only when he's absolutely certain that he's alone and unobserved (even by the portraits!) that he would be mortified if word got out about.

( Brooding, bathing, leisure reading, practicing handwriting, and painting. )

I think people have been doing better than usual lately, because it's taken me a while for me to build up even this many, and this only a half batch. (A full batch would be 10; I settled on that as a kind of standard to stop me building up huge pools of way-too-many, and now... this?)
