Goofy almost-three-years-old parody post (where, fortunately, the image links are all still good) with screenshots from Barchester Chronicles of a much younger Alan Rickman dressed up as a chaplain. Seems that dark coats over white collar and cuffs really agrees with him. But then, that agrees with a lot of people. I think it's the same principle as that it's very hard to look bad in a tuxedo.
P.S. I'm amused that this series also contains a character named (ahem) Septimus.
