Perhaps it's like the Empire State Building and they change what color the lights are depending on the occasion...?

Cannot wait to go there in July! It'll be my first trip!

I suppose it's also possible those lights hadn't been installed at that point, since when I was there in 2010 it was still fairly new.

My husband I decided Florida in July was a "never again" for us :P (not to mention the expense of trucking us both out there and the hotel bill).

Yeah, I'm expecting it to be scorching and humid, but at least Night of a Thousand Wizards is at night, and the rest of the time I figure I won't leave the hotel. No way am I wearing full robes to NOATW though -- I'm trying to finish making a Quidditch outfit in time to wear instead!

My experience with Night of a Thousand Wizards was that being nighttime didn't help a lot; it was still 80ish and very humid and they packed us all together (and I hear there were ultimately 1500+ of us or something) in a fairly small area for like an hour while they cleaned the park (I guess?) and set up the special food tables and all that were for us. You might have seen videos of some impromptu battles between some various cosplayers up on a stage - that was where they had packed us while we waited to be let out to do anything else. (So, beware that if you try to stay until closing, that they will kick you out with all the regular patrons and then you have to wait to be let back in to the special event.)

I brought full robes and sleeveless vest/jumper but only wore them inside the hotel. I forget what I was wearing at NoTW. Poor logospilgrim, I think she was wearing full robes all the time, you know how she does...

Supposedly Universal is going to run NOATW differently this time -- regular patrons can stay until 10pm, but NOATW attendees can enter starting at 8pm and we have dinner vouchers that have to be used between 8p and 10p... It still sounds like a logistical nightmare but Universal hasn't really let the con have much of a say. They completely dictate everything and we're stuck just going along with their crazy plan.

Oh goodness, Logospilgrim always has such gorgeous robes, too. :-)

I love the fancy color filtered and enhanced photos. They make things look so pretty and beautiful, even if it doesn't look much like the real experience. :)
