Has anyone else out there heard of Chute 212? I picked up a flyer for it the weekend before last at PantheaCon (of all places) and was just checking out their website. Apparently their schtick is to apply a "fantasy fair" (e.g. Renaissance fair, Dickens Fair...) approach to a Harry Potter event, so you have the typical convention-style panels and presentations, but then also this more theatrical, immersive setup. (See also MuggleNet article.)
July 2-6, 2014, Santa Clara, CA. That's bloody close to me - I could even drive back and forth rather than staying at the Hyatt for $109 a night plus probably 10% tax. But tickets are $150 even for early-bird registration ("early broom" they're calling it), though. Dunno what it goes up to after March 15th; probably $180-200. Yikes.
(Icon on DW used because Great America, the theme/amusement park the convention center is near, does a serious 4th of July fireworks display.)
