My cataloging assistant just read this rather strange book summary aloud to me from the OCLC record:
A novel about a fifteen-year-old prostitute who is actually a 2,000-year old werefox--
Here I interrupted, "Is Stephenie Meyer at it again?"
--who seduces men with her tail and drains them of their sexual power. She falls in love with a KGB officer who is actually a werewolf.
I asked what the heck was the title of this thing, and it's the English translation from Russian of The Sacred Book of the Werewolf by Viktor Pelevin.
Bemused by all this, all I could think to say was, "Well, I guess there's not much else to do in Siberia."
