HBP now releasing 7/15 instead of 7/17

Bah! Why'd WB have to go and move the release date of HBP again? (Real answer: it's summer and weekdays act a lot like weekends = more box office on opening week.) Don't get me wrong, the earlier the better in one sense, but as far as Azkatraz, I'm going to lose all the personal cred I would have given myself for my very first costumed geeky opening-day midnight viewing of any movie ever. There's little point bothering to go see it a couple days earlier, either, because most of the fun was going to be sharing that fact with a bunch of other obsessed fans, and now I'm not going to be. Feh.

Do you ever get the feeling that WB is run by chickens pecking at little buttons inside a cardboard box? Something is just not right with them!

I guess, since I hear they half-spoiled the mystery of Snape's allegiance*, they had to replace the questionable villain with someone... to do it with themselves was an odd creative choice, though.

* - I dunno. Maybe that'll come off differently since they never spent any time on this issue to begin with, merely made him a bit antagonistic to Harry. If I were movie!Harry, after the first movie I'd never wonder where his loyalties were, I'd just think he was a surly git. So either the end of HBP is going to be the most confusing bombshell in all the movies and spark a whole new wave of OMG SNAPE SO EVIL which will have book-fans headdesking, or it is going to fall entirely flat with no punch whatsoever.

(And yes it seems these are the only two possibilities for this Mrs Ranty McRantpants who today is playing the part of esmestrella. :P )

Yeah; see azkatraz. Apparently the idea of moving the show date was briefly considered but they decided not to change that, although if I understand right there may still be a change to earlier in the night, because the theater might replace a midnight show (which before would have been the earliest permitted) with a more usual Thursday night schedule.

There is something annoying about it. They did the same thing two years ago with OotP. Why don't they just plan on a Wed. opening if they're just gonna make a history of changing it now? Might as well go ahead and reschedule DH I & II while they're at it.

For me, with being pregnant, I couldn't go to a midnight showing this year, so I was planning on just taking that FRIDAY off work and seeing it in the morning. Taking a WEDNESDAY off work is a lot more inconvenient. Stupid WB.
