ss/le at infinitus

Even though the con is over six months away, I'm vaguely contemplating whether to do an SS/LE meetup at Infinitus. I'd like to, but I'm utterly unable to have a clue when it comes to venue since I live ~2450 miles away (as the great circle flies; add 400 miles on the ground). I'm wondering if it might be better to contact programming enough ahead of time that we could get one of the con meeting rooms, becuase keeping cost down is always good, but maybe there's something simply smashing in walking distance that I'm just not aware of? And what's this "CityWalk" thing that appears to be part of the resort complex?

This is very much preliminary interest gauging / general brainstorming time, so anything goes.

Citywalk is kind of reminiscent of Pleasure Island, but it's a row of shops and nightclubs you have to walk through to get to the gates of Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.

Venues include Margaritaville and karaoke bars and a reggae bar and souvenir shops and a big movie theater and stuff.

There may be covers for some of the venues *in* Citywalk, but there is no cover for Citywalk on a normal day.

Basically you park in the parking lot, walk through Citywalk, and get to the gates of the park.

I... can't say I know much about Florida outside of DisneyWorld but I //can// say that I'm totally down for an SS/LE meetup. I was so upset that I (mostly) missed the one at Az. :P

So count me in no matter where we decide to hold it! (And I'll help with it in any way I can. :) )

For what it is worth, this is from a friend of mine that lives near there: "In the area of Universal Studios. Universal Blvd runs north and south; if you head south it crosses International Drive and there is a Murphy’s Arms Pub and the Lucky Leprechaun Irish Pub but it does not look like walking distance. Universal Studios Citywalk has quite a few restaurants/bars (Margaritaville, Hard Rock Café, Bob Marley place, NASCAR Sports Grille & more). I believe the hotels you have listed (I know Portofino for sure) are right across the lake from CityWalk. I guess it is just finding out what place can accommodate your group. Margaritaville gets crazy so they might not even notice you!"
