fic: Snow-Horses (Severus/Hermione, romance/fluff, PG)

She said she would have liked to have a little dialogue or story for this picture, but couldn't think of one, and could anyone write one? So I did this little splat of Severus/Hermione. (I know, I know: Four horsemen sighted on horizon; film at 11.) I have no idea what I am doing here so forgive me if I get the character dynamic all wrong.

*******

Severus shivered, pulled his scarf up a little higher around his throat, and tried to sink his jaw and cheeks down into it like a turtle. His voice a little muffled by the green and grey striped wool, he said, "Granger, if you'd just—"

"—Hermione," she admonished him without looking up, scraping her fingers through the snow to make the lines of her snow-horse's mane.

"Hermione," he continued gruffly, "as I've told you twice already, if you insist on making snow sculpture in the dead of winter you surely have faster and better ways of doing so." He tapped the tip of his wand impatiently against his palm. "Or doth the history of your Charms marks deceive me?" He ardently wished once again that he'd put on a hat and gloves before venturing out in the twilit snow to collect the foolish young witch.

"Oh, Severus," she sighed, standing and brushing the snow from her knees, then turning to face him. "One thing I've learned is that there are just some things that are better to do with your own hands." For a moment she remembered hearing about Harry digging Dobby's grave in the Muggle way and blinked away the tears that sprang to her eyes. Then, smiling, she took one of his hands in hers. Caressing his fingers suggestively, she stretched up to whisper in his ear, "Some things. As I'm sure you know..."

Severus shivered again, but not from the cold. "Some things," he agreed in a low, hot voice, and led her inside.

Some things indeed...! Naughty, little witch. ;-)

I loved it!

It may be "fluffy", but it made me feel very warm inside, which was sorely needed on such a cold day. (Yes, I KNOW you're in California. Brat. ;) )

I read it for Severus. Not so much for that YOUNG insufferable know-it-all. And, yes... those grapes ARE sour.... ;)

Lols! Me too. XD

On a side note, I agree the 1960 vs 1979 is a hefty gap. But take this year for example, Hermione would be 30 and Severus 49.

There's also the fact that Snape never really aged much past 16, he has a considerable amount of immaturity in his character. That's probably why I have issues with SS/MM, now that's an age gap . . . in more ways then one.

But everyone has their line of ships. ; )

My husband is 36 and I turned 52 yesterday. We have been together for 16 years. We have no problem with our 16 year age gap. He is an ER Dr. & I am a children's Librarian.

A good relationship does not ignore the differences of the individuals but takes the differences of the two and encourages their unique abilities to grow, together and as individuals. It's hard. Hard work but like any masterpiece it's well worth it. When you look across the room and he is looking back at you in awh. You smile and you know it's not the age, it's not the income, it's not physical beauty. It's Love.

I loved the story. My husband has wished more than once that he'd stopped to put on a hat and gloves before venturing out in the snow to collect his wife. And I laughing, I have taken his hands in mine and lead him inside and "warmed him up."

Where you peeking in the window? We loved the story very much.

Severus certainly gets around! The scoundrel. Nice to see you've decided to embrace your dark side and venture into SS/HG land. :)

Really sweet and funny! I enjoyed the ficlet! You have an excellent writing style, I really admire it.

*laughs* I read the comment the artist left for the picture. "Nothing distasteful" made smirk. I suddenly had a wealth of images.

So very touching and sexy all at once. :) I don't ship this pairing, but this was beautifully done.

And yeah, some things *are* more enjoyed when done manually (with hands). There's just something personal and satisfying about doing something with your own hands.

Awww! I loved it! Great job, Elethian!

I generally ship anything Severus as long as it's well written. But I do have a soft spot for SS/HG for some reason. And I don't find the age gap that startling. *shrug* Compatibility is a varied thing.

Nice little twisty end. She knows perfectly well...
