Title: Dancing Fool
Fandom: Monkey Island
Pairing/Characters: Guybrush/Elaine
Rating: General audiences (G)
Words: 360
Summary: Just a fluffy little ficlet: Guybrush did his best to learn to dance for his and Elaine's wedding. Of course, this is Guybrush we're talking about here...
Additional Tags: Weddings, Dancing, Fluff, Humor
Notes: Inspired by this headcanon post of [tumblr.com profile] captmickey's:
Yeah, it's funny seeing Guybrush be a klutz and a goof and silly.
But it's also cool thinking how he probably practice for weeks on end to waltz/ballroom dance for Elaine for their wedding and it's the one form of dance he can do because of how hard he practice.
And he still remembers it.

Notes: I started with her name (which is funny because those are usually my personal voodoo anti-root), her occupation, and a few hundred words of cute fluff about how she humored him about his pirate stories. Then uhhhh my hand slipped?

Alien Hands by [archiveofourown.org profile] raingirl9
Fandom: Doctor Who
Pairing/Characters: Ten/Donna
Rating: General Audiences
Words: 711

Author's summary: After a long day of adventures, Donna makes an observation. The Doctor takes it the wrong way.
Author's notes: I don’t know where the idea for this came from, but it’s basically plotless fluff that I thought might be worth sharing.
Author's warnings: None
Additional tags: Fluff, Established Relationship, Holding Hands, Slice of Life, Romance, Humor

My comment: "Awww, so sweet :)"

Quote:
She smirked at him, a gleam in her eye. “You know all those films with little green men in them? You’ve got hands like that. Martian hands.”
“I’m not-”
“I know you’re not from Mars.”
“-green.”

Author's summary: "Milliways Steak House and part-time mortuary, how may we serve you today?" In which the Doctor deals with an unwanted caller and the TARDIS fam learn a few things about their fun-loving alien friend.
Author's notes: Wrote this while avoiding spoilers for The Ghost Monument. Credit to my friend Viking for the use of weird introductions to unwanted phone calls. He mostly uses them against telemarketers.
Author's warnings: None

The Doctor looked at him, amused, and then cocked her head like a bird who’d found something shiny. She clapped Graham on the shoulders with a grin that was aglow with delight and mischief; it was a grin Yaz was rapidly coming to learn to fear.

My comment: "Aw, this was very sweet!"

Quote:
When time allowed, she went through the corridors of the ship. Even when the Doctor didn't know her, the TARDIS did, keeping River's bedroom as she preferred, with the growing map in the same hiding place. She'd added more sheets of paper, attempting the impossible: capture multiple dimensions of layered space. The project kept her spirits up when Amy and Rory were nowhere to be found, or on visits when her bed was cold and lonely.

River Song and the Lost Tomb of Ardûn by [archiveofourown.org profile] NancyBrown
Fandom: Doctor Who
Pairing/Characters: River Song, Jack Harkness
Rating: Teen
Words: 4921

Author's summary: River's professor for her first archaeology class was a self-declared expert on late twentieth and early twenty-first century Earth history. Naturally, she hated his guts.
Author's notes: Warnings: some violence and torture (think Indiana Jones films level of gore). Spoilers: up through "DW: The Angels Take Manhattan"
Author's warnings: Graphic Depictions of Violence
Additional tags: Community: trope_bingo, Action/Adventure, Pastiche, Paradox

My comment: "HEE! <- that's me at the end. I can totally picture Jack as an Indiana Jones type. I like how he wouldn't talk to River even kinda straight until he knew she'd met and married the Doctor.
[spoilery and gross bit redacted] And, yiii, having to die over and over like that? O.O"

Quote:
In class, she never once had the chance to relax, or to give the easy answer. No, every time her attention wavered, Professor Jones called her name, making her answer the hardest question he could think of on today's lecture. Lia and Kris were allowed to answer queries like, "Name all four Beatles." When River's turn came, it was, "Miss Song, describe for the class the sociological impact the British Invasion had on popular culture in context of the social unrest of the time period."

"What happened to you?"
The Doctor turns back to Pvt. Stewart. "The parasites are vulnerable to x-rays. A simple scan should cure him. You'll want to do the same to the rest of your patients."
"Doctor?" He's not answering her question. But he is helping her.

Title: To Weave Cold Starlight
Pairing/Characters: Severus/Lily
Rating: PG for a few strong words
Words: ~5600
Summary: Severus wants to make Lily a special gift of something she saw in a book in the library, but doesn't get the chance to until after they're both dead. It turns out to have surprising properties.
Warnings/Contains: Mentions of canon deaths. Some fluff, a little angst. A few liberties taken with Latin, I'm sure. Unbetaed and unBritpicked.
A/N: Written for [livejournal.com profile] shoujo_bubbles in [livejournal.com profile] fandom_stocking, here. A bit of an homage to Textualsphinx's To Sever the Lining from a Cloud, a much angstier Severus/Lily that doesn't suffer much for being ten years old (!), and one of my favorites.

The Mistletoe Incident by [livejournal.com profile] naadi
(Harry/Draco, PG-13, may be NWS depending as it includes some suggestive nudity)

Draco parks himself beneath some mistletoe and will neither clear out nor kiss any of the hopefuls. Harry Potter to the rescue! (with a bit of a surprise ending.) Sort of comic format - text on pictures - done in sort of limerick rhyme scheme.

Harry leaned close to his old nemesis
His lips just a breath from the kiss.
He moved closer still,
Said in whispered ill will,
"I am so going to kill you for this."

[community profile] snapelyholidays - The Crystalline Cold of Christmas Air
(Tom Riddle, with appearances from Abraxas Malfoy, Gellert Grindelwald, and Severus Snape)
Alchemia asked for a sympathetic Dark Lord. Here he appears as a boy under the shadow of another, as a man who has assumed his own pride of place, and as a lord bestowing a Christmas gift.

My comment: "That's just so amazing! I love Tom's voice and the echoes of people's colors and placements down the generations."

-----

[livejournal.com profile] mini_fest - Delighting in Your Company
(Severus/Sirius, PG-13, 1300 words)
The most beautiful present is not under the Christmas tree, the most beautiful present is having the love of your life on your arms and knowing that for ever they will be there.

Pretty schmoopy in the end, but also has a few of the barbs we so love this ship for:

"I got you a dish that says 'Fido'."
"Git. I got you a whip."
Severus's mouth opened, but no sound came out.
"For eggs and things."
"A whisk, you idiot."

-----

[livejournal.com profile] mini_fest - Legend of the Accursed Fruitcake of CamlannM
(mostly gen humor but with some Harry/Draco, Albus/Gellert, PG-13, 3537 words)
The Accursed Fruitcake of Camlann was said to have been a rejected Christmas present from Morgana to Merlin, forever doomed to pass on from wizard to wizard, bringing its curse upon all who dared regift it. This is its epic story over the ages and how one brave wizard finally defeated the Accursed Fruitcake’s evil spell.

Summary kind of says it. This was a silly delight. I highly recommend a dramatic reading for no doubt soon-to-be-confused significant others or friends.

Malfoy’s poorly thought-out plan went roughly like this:

1) Fruitcake is cursed.
2) Give fruitcake to Potter.
3) ???
4) Profit!

-----

[livejournal.com profile] mini_fest - A Christmas Wish
(Severus/Harry. Artist rated PG-13 but as far as I can see it's straight G, so it makes me wonder if I'm missing some saucy detail.)
Prompt(s): 29. "All I Want for Christmas" - Harry makes a Christmas Eve wish that Severus was still alive. and 31. Snape as Jack Frost.

The frosty coloring and spiky hair and eyebrows suit Severus surprisingly well. Harry's gloved fingers touching the corner of Severus's smile is very sweet.

Secret Santa by aramintasnape (Severus/Aurora, sexy fluff, R, 2875 words)
Every year, Albus organises a Secret Santa for the staff. This year, Severus decides to liven up the proceedings...

Three words: Black silk lingerie. Hee! Also, this is set in my favourite under-written era for Severus, the young professor (1980s).

Christ, what was wrong with him? Maybe Albus had slipped him a Get-Totally-Over-Excited-and-Act-Like-An-Idiot-At-Christmas potion on the sly. It couldn't be possible that he was actually looking forward to Christmas presents.

-----

There must be something in the water mulled wine this year, because besides [livejournal.com profile] mimimanderly's A Visit from Severus, we also have A Visit from St. Severus by hexgirl (both are a strong PG-13 or soft R, I think):

His black eyes they glinted! His skin was like chalk!
His cheeks were like marble, his nose like a hawk!
The sneer on his lips was enough to rouse fright,
And the hair on his head was as dark as the night.

Sort of oldish, from this summer's Snarry Games:
Connecting the Dotty by [livejournal.com profile] igtow (Severus/Harry, romance/family, PG-13, ~19200 words)
A gentle tale of growing old together.

[livejournal.com profile] igtow's summary pretty much says it. Harry and Severus begin this story aged in the middle of their second centuries, and it's about them and their considerable number of descendents and family dealing with Severus's growing senility -- and, as the story goes on, some of Harry's problems as well. This grabbed me in the gut early on and didn't let go. I'm having a really hard time picking a good excerpt out of this because it doesn't seem to want to be carved into little chunks like that. So... next!

-----

A Severus Christmas Carol by Strega Arvay (gen/supernatural, PG, ~26900)
What the Dickens? Severus Snape finds himself at the end of the year, feeling particularly foul. Leave it to the 'ghosts' of Christmas Past, Present and Future to set him straight. AU story with DH spoilers! Takes place in Harry's 5th year... sorta.

Probably a cliched idea by now, but I thought this was a good take on it that had its own life and didn't feel limp or stale. Regulus stands in for Marley, and the three spirits are Lily, Dumbledore, and (naturally, given the appearance) a Dementor. It has the predictable ending as it's a clear example of based-on-X homage, but again, I was taken with the way the HP characters were adapted into the known storyline and made relevant there with their own twist.

Snape stood transfixed by the scene in front of him. He wanted to believe with all his might that the heat in his face came solely from the setting sun shining in through the kitchen window. Without looking at Dumbledore, he asked, “Tell me, does [Harry] live or die?”

“That I cannot say, Severus,” Dumbledore sighed. “I only know what lies
well, technically, what lay ahead of me in my life. But I do see an empty chair at the Gryffindor table, and a wand without an owner. If things remain as they are then, yes, I do believe Harry will die.” His voice changed, harsher and cutting. “But he should consider himself lucky, right? Lucky to be so blissfully removed from the torment of this world?”

The echo of his own words cut through Snape like a knife [...]

Snow

She said she would have liked to have a little dialogue or story for this picture, but couldn't think of one, and could anyone write one? So I did this little splat of Severus/Hermione. (I know, I know: Four horsemen sighted on horizon; film at 11.) I have no idea what I am doing here so forgive me if I get the character dynamic all wrong.

*******

Severus shivered, pulled his scarf up a little higher around his throat, and tried to sink his jaw and cheeks down into it like a turtle. His voice a little muffled by the green and grey striped wool, he said, "Granger, if you'd just—"

"—Hermione," she admonished him without looking up, scraping her fingers through the snow to make the lines of her snow-horse's mane.

"Hermione," he continued gruffly, "as I've told you twice already, if you insist on making snow sculpture in the dead of winter you surely have faster and better ways of doing so." He tapped the tip of his wand impatiently against his palm. "Or doth the history of your Charms marks deceive me?" He ardently wished once again that he'd put on a hat and gloves before venturing out in the twilit snow to collect the foolish young witch.

"Oh, Severus," she sighed, standing and brushing the snow from her knees, then turning to face him. "One thing I've learned is that there are just some things that are better to do with your own hands." For a moment she remembered hearing about Harry digging Dobby's grave in the Muggle way and blinked away the tears that sprang to her eyes. Then, smiling, she took one of his hands in hers. Caressing his fingers suggestively, she stretched up to whisper in his ear, "Some things. As I'm sure you know..."

Severus shivered again, but not from the cold. "Some things," he agreed in a low, hot voice, and led her inside.
