Hermione probably DOES hate Colbert. His anti-bear sentiments get her rabidly-PC dander up.

So fanfics are rated for DEATH now? And not an actual death, but a MENTION of one. Sheesh, what next? Are people really so sensitive that a work must be rated for every conceivable thing that might possibly offend or frighten anyone?

Amusing as ever, but I am just afraid that some of these writers just make me headdesk like crazy. A lump is starting to form...

So fanfics are rated for DEATH now?

Character death is apparently a problem for many people and they like to be warned for it rather than get to "OMG YOU KILLED ____ HOW COULD YOU". *shrug* Isn't something that bothers me, not in the sense that I would avoid reading a fic because of it, anyway. (Not like there's not plenty of death in this particular fandom's canon, too.)

You probably haven't been in recent (few months ago?) discussions on warning practices, but sorta, yeah. There's a camp of "I want to be warned for the following things which are triggering to me" and a camp of "No way, I'm not going to spoil my story for you" and etc.

Reading about Harry's treatment of his girlfriends in canon was...quite painful. Considering how he's so self absorbed and won't tolerate disagreements from his girlfriends. And his attitude towards people who cry (like towards poor Cho) was revolting.

Oh, and nobody carries a torch for unrequited love like Snape. :D

Cut Harry a little slack for being an insensitive teenage boy; that he doesn't know how to properly handle a girl crying is hardly surprising (as Hermione's expounding on how Cho must have been feeling demonstrates). But yeah, I winced at the statement that one of the things he likes about Ginny is that she isn't a cryer. Hey, none of that messy emotional crap! She's supergirl!

True, he is a teenage boy. And some teenage boys can be rather insensitive. But I thought it was awful how he liked that Ginny wasn't a cryer. It also struck me as hypocritical of Harry, considering how Hermione cries a lot (over some things that were more trivial than Cho crying over Cedric's death) and Harry doesn't seem to mind this.

*laughs* HBP and DH Ginny seemed a bit unbelievable to me. I like characters who can be vulnerable, cry, do embarrassing things, make mistakes.
