Woohoo! I just posted 187 words of Snape fic in someone's stocking on [community profile] fandom_stocking. Not exactly my most scintillating work, but I'm not totally useless! I didn't only ask to receive and not give anything at all in return! woo!

(My stocking, if anyone feels the urge.)

Here's my stocking on [community profile] fandom_stocking if anyone feels up to leaving me anything. I'm going to try to put treats in some others this year, too.

Oh dear Glob, postings for Christmas fests are starting again. Seems like about last month I was reading [livejournal.com profile] hoggywartyxmas and now there they are again. And [livejournal.com profile] smutty_claus. And that makes me think of [community profile] fandom_stocking - and I've gained a new fandom since last year for that one, which fandom led me also to [livejournal.com profile] public_call. And probably others in places I don't normally look (like I wouldn't be surprised if there was a SSHG or H/D Yule-themed fest). Oh, and of course there's Yuletide, which I always wind up reading some things from.

AUGH

CAN IT... JUST BE HALLOWEEN FIRST

Yes, yes, I know, scheduling and writing time and all that. Just saying, to me September 1st, sharp, is like... school hasn't even started yet in my brain, because I work at a college on a quarter system and we start around the autumn equinox, and here it's going to be Christmas soon?

I gotta say, I find the idea of attempting to organize this on LJ itself to be slightly ironic. I suppose they are depending on people to spread it to their Facebooks or whatever, although I'm not sure how many of the target audience are in HP related groups on Facebook, or would normally post this kind of thing to their "regular" feeds, given how sensitive some people are about friends, family, or coworkers finding out their real identity is in fandom. Tumblr, maybe, but I'm not sure what percent of target actually went there rather than just leaving entirely at some past point. It would seem to depend on people having maintained friendships with people even though those people left fandom, or something. *shrug*

--'course, considering how I keep toying with the idea of dropping out of HP fandom myself, I'm not in much of a position to sling rocks.
